Ebook About
Too big for beauty...All Felix wanted was what the rest of the White River omegas had--a mate, a home, pups. But when you tower over all your potential suitors, romance is hard to come by. Watching omegas ten years his junior get their happy ever after hurts more with each mating ceremony, so he begs his parents to let him move to Mercy Hills--not to find a mate, but simply to find a future where he isn't a dead weight dragging on those around him. Instead, he finds a cranky, broken, sarcastic alpha who is desperately in need of someone to sit him down and tell him how things are. And who looks at Felix like the sun shines out of his eyes."Your pack are a bunch of fools..."Kaden came home from the Army heavier by the weight of a useless medal, lighter by several body parts, and with no real idea how to go forward. As he struggles to find his place in the pack, he takes solace in the company of the large omega sent to help him adjust. When Kaden discovers that Felix's size means he's never even been kissed, nothing will do for Kaden except to get the jump on all those other idiots who passed Felix up, mate this handsome creature, and give Felix everything his heart has ever desired."Come work for me and we'll change your world..."Finding a mate is the easy part. As the Alpha's brother and decorated war hero, Kaden finds himself at the center of two political campaigns and must learn how to walk with a paw in both the shifter world, and the human one. And while he travels, courting the packs in a political campaign the likes of which the country has never seen before, he and Felix become an almost unstoppable pair, determined to forge new alliances between human and shifter, and lay the groundwork for their eventual freedom.Omega's Heart is 256,000 words of slow burn passion between two exceptional shifters, warm family moments, surprising new friends, even more surprising new opportunities, political intrigue, and a turning point in the path that all the packs will eventually follow.

Book Omega's Heart (Mercy Hills Pack Book 7) Review :

Felix White River is an omega who's turning 28 soon & still not mated. He has the body of an alpha & it's undesirable in White River. He wants the opportunity to mate, so he requests a transfer to Mercy Hills.Kaden Salma Wood is an injured Army vet who's decided to rehabilitate in Mercy Hills with his brothers, instead of Salma Wood. He has some issues with his time in the Army & his injury but he's doing pretty good considering.I loved Kaden & Felix as a couple. I felt like their romance was genuine & they truly loved each other. They definitely didn't settle for each other. They chose each other. I liked the parts where we got to catch up on the other couples. I liked that the brother's (Quin, Abel, Kaden & Cas) mother is coming around. She really redeems a lot of her previous BS with her talk to Mitchel. This book is half about Kaden and Felix and half about catching up on Mercy Hills, the story of Julius and Minnie, issues with trying to get the Segregation Laws abolished, traveling to the other enclaves to decide who gets the next trust, etc.. The book could've easily been cut down a third just by cutting out some of the mundane day to day stuff that's repetitively written & condensing some of the visits to the other enclaves. It really dragged the story down IMO. The story doesn't progress much for being 600 pages long. Mitchel Alpha Buffalo Gap's change from being a domineering prejudiced alpha to a horrible waste of space was a big difference from all previous books he was in. Just added drama to finally give Mitchel his comeuppance for Usher? Well it wasn't enough. Usher deserved better than what was done to Mitchel. There's a lot of spelling, punctuation & grammar mistakes throughout the book. It had enough run-on sentences to fill a sink. It needed a second pass of the editor or a second editor to catch them.Story continuity issues: (%'s are on the Kindle version)* Felix being referred to as being from Winter Moon, instead of White River, in 2 spots (5% & 18%) that I caught.* At 22% the meeting with the president. It's written that the president is meeting Abel and Bax for the first time but in The Omega's Alpha (Quin & Holland's book) there's a scene where Bax is talking to the president.* At 35% Kaden stood watching Felix & Julius but on the very next page he's in his wheelchair still watching.* Fan's age? At 25% he's 10, at 51% he's referred to as a teenager, and at 80% he's referred to as nearly a teenager.* Holland & Cale's parents? In The Omega's Alpha Chapter 15 Holland refers to Mitchel as his uncle. In The Omega's Alpha Chapter 10 it's mentioned as Holland's mother had gone to the Moonland's before his first mating. Then in this book Chapter 99 Mitchel says "We raised him right" referring to Holland & at 82% it's stated that Mitchel & his current mate are Holland's parents. In a previous book it was stated that Holland & Cale are full blooded brothers. Changing their parents in this book seems like it was just for drama.* The chapters dealing with Damian & Salem don't follow along with their book Lone Wolf's Omega. Some things are out of order or not mentioned as happening as it was in Lone Wolf's Omega, which could've easily been avoided just by having their book handy.Things thrown in for filler or wasted reading?* The stump socks Felix made for Kaden, the Dr wanted to known about. Why mention this at the Dr appt but not to Felix later or maybe make it a way Felix could make money for himself?* The mention of the museum curator wanting Felix's input but it was never followed up on.* The roommates that Kaden & Felix had in DC. Barely mentioned but never met. Not needed, just wasted reading.* Lots of talk about Kaden getting people to come work at the hospital but there was only one short talk at the play & then nothing. This is a major issue for Mercy Hills but it wasn't followed up on.* On the trip to Los Padres Felix really wanted an orange tree. It was mentioned as something they could possibly look into. Never mentioned again. I know orange trees probably wouldn't flourish in Tennessee but maybe Jason's green thumb could've made some grow.* Mentioning that Hunter wouldn't be welcomed in the enclave. That especially the elders would have a big problem with him. Then other than people looking at them odd nothing was said about it being disrespectful to the shifters to have a dog in the enclave. Not sure how everyone could ignore so many mistakes & give this book a 4 or 5 star? There's just too much wrong to ignore IMO.
'Repetitive' is not the word one can associate with Mercy Hills Pack series. Each book shows us the different aspect of shifter society and culture: tradition, lore, social structure, mentality, laws, etc. Every new main character comes with their own baggage, and from different background, but in the previous books there has always been some similarities between them, especially in the case of the omega of the pairing. However this time we get something completely new. And I love it even more than every other novel in the series despite each being a fascinating and compelling story in their own right.'Cliché' is also not a word one can associate with the authors' writing, but instead of listing every stupid plot twist that could have made it into the story, but never did I'll focus on the differences that make Omega's Heart stand out among already outstanding books of the series.First of all, Mercy Hills Pack series was never about the instant love, but the romantic attraction has always been there in other novels from the very first meeting or started early in the story. This time everything starts with the friendship, and while attraction is present there somewhere between the lines, it's much more subdued than before. And I really like how both Felix and Kaden can relate to each other, each with very different background but carrying their own hurt hidden deep inside without the whole relationship getting romantic right off the bat. Also, that they are more friends than lovers is a really nice touch, especially with the many authors' tendency to make loving relationship more about passion and sex than anything else. And while romantic and erotic aspects of the relationship are as always well written and heart-tugging, it's the fact that both protagonists know and accept that they're not madly in love with each other (and that the wild passion is NOT the thing they're both looking for, but rather warmth, tenderness and companionship), which makes their slow burn romance so refreshing and so, so heartwarming. That leads to the brightest star of the entire story, Felix himself (and while I loved reading about Kaden and like his character very much, it's his mate that really shines). A character full of contradictions and so intriguing because of them. At first glance there is nothing new about this 'do not judge the book by its cover' protagonist, but already in his introduction chapter he comes off as someone much more complex than one might expect. It happens really often, the protagonist with the appearance so much different than their personality, the menacing exterior hiding a teddy bear and sometimes even a doormat. Oh, but Felix has the spine alright and is nobody's pushover. Still, it's in his nature to care about others and make them happy even at cost of his own wellbeing. Felix is also so much different from other Mercy Hills Omegas, because despite his appearance making it easy for him to stand up for himself, he craves big and happy family, and doesn't mind being stay-at-home mate. Maybe it all comes from his family background and how he thought he'd never be able to get it, but all in all, his peaceful and quiet disposition and him not having big ambitions make surprisingly welcome change from our crusading fellows fighting on the front. And with Felix comes something that has never been here before - welcoming, loving and present family. To be entirely honest, White River pack shifters and our omega's family have their own fair share in hurting him and making his situation difficult over the course of the story (and before). And while none of them is blameless, not one of them is openly or purposely malicious either. Never before in the series omega's family had so much (non hostile) role in the story and was so invested in their son's life. And I liked that very, very much.Apart from the whole romantic plot we're also getting the continuation of different previous storylines like Julius and his sister's trial and some others, all of them getting satisfying and sometimes surprising conclusions. Oh, and the fight for shifters freedom continues and despite me mainly gushing over Felix and Kaden's plotline, the latter's political career is very important part of this story and gives the reader yet another opportunity to see how well-thought and detailed the whole universe really is.Well, what's not to love or like here? There's everything to love and cherish here, because I don't think we'll be getting the next book anytime soon... Still, can't wait for another story. It was SO worth the wait.
